The Ladybug's Story

Ladybugs Parking Lot Sweeping has been a family owned and operated business since 2005, but the story goes back a bit further. Darren is a native of Fouke, Arkansas, an area known for great duck hunting. However, being a young father of 2 girls, Angela & Melina, he needed to make money to support his family. The great oil surge in Louisiana brought him to Lafayette. Lafayette’s culture had a warm welcoming feeling. While working his way from fire watch to then managing a safety division of several companies, he had an opportunity to invest in a heavy equipment rental business. Little did he know at this time it would lead to so much more?

He began attending paramedic school here in Lafayette and met a beautiful young lady who was attending the same school. They became acquainted and had the opportunity given to them by a great friend, Ken Boudreaux, to purchase Ladybugs Parking Lot Sweeping. Ken owned the business but since the equipment rental business was taking off, he knew Ladybugs needed more attention. Darren and Shelly purchased Ladybugs with a rent to own agreement in place. They were both scared, excited, & apprehensive. Shelly grew up on a cattle farm not far from Lafayette; both came from great hard working families and knew the value of a day’s work.

Shelly was working for a local ambulance company at this time and had recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl, Marianna. Darren was still employed with a safety company but thought this would give his wife the perfect life of running a business and taking care of their new baby.

In August 2006, the business was turned over to them at a time when Darren and Shelly didn’t have enough money for the stamps to place on the envelopes. They began digging under car seats and behind cushions until they finally came up with the right amount for stamps to mail the invoices. And so it began...

Since then in 2008, they had another daughter, Analisa, and it truly became a family business. Analisa and Marianna help Ladybugs with painting parking lots, picking up trash, attending meetings with drivers, and are always supportive when Mom or Dad have to go out on night time jobs.

Fast forward to today, While Parking Lot Sweeping is the heart and backbone of the company, Ladybug's has diversified quite a bit.  We expanded our services to include parking lot striping, pot hole repair, pressure washing, handyman services, vacancy and construction clean up, and much more!

Ladybug's is rapidly growing, and its due in to Shelly and Darren's hard work,  always meeting their customers face to face and creating a personal relationship with them. Some of their customers have become great friends.
